CINEMA ET PSYCHIATRIE…
Une relation qui peut sembler évidente, couler de source tant le 7ème art, depuis ses origines, s’est préoccupé de l’humain et de le montrer sous toutes ses formes et ses ombres. Et comment mieux décrire, illustrer ce qui relève du domaine du non-dit, de l’anticipé, de la projection, si ce n’est par le biais d’un écran ?
Alors… Que nous montre le cinéma de cette discipline de la médecine qu’est la psychiatrie et surtout de tout ceux et celles qui ont eu un jour à côtoyer la “santé mentale” ? Qu’ils soient patients, thérapeutes, parents proches, amis, artistes…
Que nous montre le cinéma de cet univers ?
Souvent beaucoup de clichés, d’images effrayantes ou grotesques ou empreintes de bons sentiments mais néanmoins toujours intéressantes à découvrir.
A travers les films évoquant la santé mentale, le cinéma suit l’évolution de nos sociétés, de nos mœurs et de nos croyances, de nos tolérances aussi…
Le cinéma veille, observe, digère, et restitue tous ces moments de vie…C’est sa vocation et sa MAGNIFIQUE LIBERTE.

CINEMA AND PSYCHIATRY…
A relationship that seems to be obvious, expected, since the 7th Art, from the very beginning has been concerned by mankind and has been trying to depict all its forms and shadows. And how to show, illustrate, describe what comes from the “un-said, anticipated, projected” territories of our minds but through a Big Screen ?
What does Cinema show us about that medical discipline which is psychiatry and, above all, of all those who, one day or another, have been involved in the “mental health world” ? Wether they’re patients, therapists, parents and friends, artists…
What does cinema show us of that universe ?
Lots of clichés very often, grotesque or frightening images, politically correct fine feelings images, but nevertheless always interesting to discover. Through films about mental illness, cinema is a testimony of the evolution of our societies, our ways of living, our beliefs and our tolerances as well.
Cinema watches, observes, digests and returns all those moments of life… That’s its calling and its WONDERFUL FREEDOM.
